Ideas for Better Education

Next year my school is supplying ever student with Ipads. Having Ipads allows us to do many more things and gives us unlimited internet access. the problem is some students may take advantage of this gift by playing games during school. The best way to keep students engaed is to keep them interested.

One idea to keep student interested would be to have some classes outside. There are many reasons why learning outdoors is better then learning indoors. First off when outside your in a much more open and free enviroment instead of being in jail-like classrooms. Also being exposed to sunlight and fresh air is much more stress releiving then stuffy classrooms.

Ipad Control

I think students should have contol over the applications that they download onto their Ipads. Students may need to download apps to easyer compleate assignments when they are unable to get permision by an administrator.

Common sense media

I think the website commonsensemedia.org could help parents teach their children things that they don't learn inside of school.

9 hour school days

http://mindshift.kqed.org/2011/04/can-a-9-hour-school-day-prevent-students-from-dropping-out/

As a student i believe if school days lasted 9 hours that torwards the end of it would become very hard to concentrate and it would also make it very hard to both do your homework and get enough sleep needed to go through a 9 hour day the next day.

Online learning

Lots of people do not think online learning is a good idea but i compleatly disagree. I recently came across a list of benIfits of online learning writen by a group of high school sophmores from utah. The list was as follows:

1. I can work ahead if I’m able to
2. I get nearly instant responses from my teachers
3. I get personalized support when I need it
4. My teachers are just as excited about online learning as I am
5. I can do all my math for the week on one day if I want to
6. I know how I’m doing, my grades are right on the screen
7. My parents can see my work and grades
8. My courses are more challenging
9. I can keep up with my work when my family travels
10. I can work around a busy schedule

I think the best part of online learing would be to have the ability to do your work whenever you want so if you were going on vacation with your family you could get all your work don.e in advance so you wouldnt be behind when you returned. Another advantage to having freedom in when you do your school is if you want a job that would normally interfer with school hours you could do your school work around your job, having this advantage would hive you the ability to get the experience you need for the job you want without having to worry if your job interfers with school.

Banning cell phones in school

I think banning cell phones is a bad idea. It will result in alot of unneeded suspentions and cut off students ability to communicate with parents and relatives when needed.

Superbowl Halftime Show

This years superbowl halftime show was the worst I have ever seen. The Black Eyed Peas performed and they were awful. Their music sounds terrible without help from the studio.

Facebook can stenghthen a student

http://theinnovativeeducator.blogspot.com/2011/02/10-ways-students-feel-facebook.html

I think facebook could make much better student teacher relations. Students would be able to talk to teachers about things they didnt feel comfortable asking them about face to face. Using faceboook would also be a great way for the school/teachers to inform students of things they needed to know.
